God Bless Fireweed! And other ramblings...

Wow! What a great to start to this new hobby!!! Just a little side note - I think that I am hilarious!!! In fact, I tell my students that if they laugh at my super "funny" computer jokes, they will pass my class! LOL After living in England and learning "English humor," I KNOW I am hilarious!! :) Moral here, laugh with me! Life is too short and laughing is therapeutic and if you do it long enough, a great abdominal workout!
OK... so onto today's post...
First of all - it is snowing and has been snowing and it doesn't seem to want to stop snowing any time soon. I had to shovel the puppies a path to their favorite tree. It was too funny when they went out before I shoveled and got lost in the snow... Poor wittle poodles.
God Bless Fireweed Consignment Boutique!!! This women and her staff are the Fairbanks gurus of recycled fashion! Through my latest journey of leaving 50+ pounds behind me like a bad habit, I have become very fond of entering Fireweed with a bag of my "fashionista" clothes to consign and leaving with other fashionistas' clothes in my latest size!!! I have become of a bit a jean snob - love Lucky jeans. I have found that there are other jean snobs in Fairbanks too! I can literally exchange my old size Lucky's for a new size Lucky's! What a concept!!! And she is bringing in the cutest tops from "outside!" Let me tell  you, the fashion starved Fairbanks is getting hors'duerves! LOL Again -not an advertisement but a genuine thank you! I bet some of you are thanking the good Lord that you live within 20 minutes of a mall. ;)
And on another note - let's talk about carbs... Evil carbs... I love food - almost all kinds of food - except for Indian and Thai. Hmm... not too fond... Sorry Becky B.! And these evil little peanut butter eggs that are out this time of year. I can't say anymore - it hurts.. (LOL) Living in the cold, dark frozen tundra - carbs are your friend. Well, so your body tells you. Carbs keep you warm and make you  happy! (almost as good as retail therapy!!!) No, not really - well, for a moment perhaps. Then the cruel carb pounds stay with you because you have the seasonal blahs and hitting play on the DVD player for P90X is just too much energy... and then a sudden idea pops into your head - Carbs! Carbs will give me energy! Then I can hit play of the DVD player! And then off to the pantry to find some more. Vicious cycle. Can't go outside for a walk - might be trampled by a moose and - hello! it is too damn cold! So, to help keep me fit - I have this little mini stair stepper. I found out last week that I can crochet and stair step at the same time! Whoa! I know, right!!! This takes talent... I haven't fallen off yet - knock on wood! In an hour I can get a hat base completely crocheted. Or as in last week's test - four crochet roses and a few crochet leaves in about an hour. I look forward to my workouts!!! And UAF is having a fitness contest - our team is in 6th place, by the way - so what better reason to get my workout time in and eat healthy! Who wouldn't love a $100 gift card just for working out! Hmmm.. getting paid to workout - that is a concept! Yep - and why I taught aerobics for minimum wage at the Y!
Also part of being a fashionista is eating healthy... maybe not according to the dictionary, but this is my blog - so my rules. LOL Last night was a lovely Isagenix vanilla shake with a handful of spinach, apple juice (organic, pure) and a few strawberries. Seriously - it was fantastic! It is all about the Vitamix.
And now, onto the 40 below fashionista outfit for the day... Thank you Becky B for taking my photo! I really need some more "poof" in  my hair... OH, Michael!!!!! (that is my hairdresser) Let's blame the flat hair on the inches of snow that continue to fall.  The crochet vest pattern is from Gu'Chet on Etsy. It was interesting to make. It looks like it was knitted due to V-crochet stitch. I rather crochet and it was fun to learn a new stitch.
Maybe if my dear cousin Lisa reads this - she will send me a picture of my cutie-pa-tootie cousin Lily in her Hello Kitty hat and matching leg warmers! Very cute - every girl should have a set! LOL
I would like to be able to say that I am going to shovel snow - but I am not going to lie... that is why DH got a plow for the 4-wheeler - which by the way does not have a seat because a bear ate it last summer. (yes, a bear) My excuse to not use the plow - and DH loves to go out and plow the entire Court - everyone's driveways. LOL I actually am headed back to work - reintegration training for Army teens tonight. God bless them and bring their parents home safe!
Toodles!!!
